With a cylinder that size, may want to consider a regenerative valve.

Don't know if you could combine a regen valve with a two stage pump. With a 6.75 bore, would be nice to get all the speed you can, even if it's only in one direction.

On the description for the prince regenerative log splitter valve, it specifically says NOT to use it with two stage pumps. It is aimed at tractor hydraulic powered spiltters.
