PTO lever/cable recall - L3400/L2800

I had the oil level increase PSB done before I heard about the cams. There is probably no point in both. Just the new cams should be fine. Since I already had the oil level increase I guess it will just cost me more SUDT when it comes time for a change. I am gratefull for this forum or I would not have the new cams. Brian

Well my PTO cable is messed up again, first time the PTO would not disengage. This time it won't engage. I called the dealer and they know about the new bracket and has one in stock. I am now waiting on them to call me and tell me when to bring it in. Still in warranty, but this cable thing is getting old, hopefully the new brackett will fix it.

The new bracket seems to be working for my customers so far, I had one (commercial) that was breaking cables every other month, but it's been about four months now with no problems since we installed the new bracket.

Goog - this would only apply to the L2800HST and all of the L3400 models since they have Live Continuous PTOs.

Thanks for the info. My L3400HST has worked perfectly since the pto cams were replaced. I have used my chipper and last weekend I removed the chipper and dug some post holes with the auger. Again, the pto worked great. This is the first time I have had the auger on since the 3pt. valve replacement. Now all the dirt does not fall off due to the jerking. I really like my tractor again. Guys I got a new l3400 hst in fall 2006 had cable and brackets replaced after 1 hour use. I have 134 hours on machine. I use it to plow snow and 2 hours of tilling once a year. Just tried to til again and now pto (which was always noisy and grindy) slips i guess and grinds and shaft doesnt spin as if its not fully engaging. when i disconnect pto i can spin shaft freely by hand. i am assuming I am another victim of the Kubota pto disease. i also seem to be finding this is not as much an isolated incident as they would have you believe.
Any ideals. Whats this cam fix. how hard to do? any recalls or dealer help available.???

"..disconnect pto i can spin shaft freely by hand..." that's how it should be... When my PTO will not cut off, I'll shut the tractor down and wiggle the pto shaft back and forth until it disconnects. It will rotate freely.

I don't understand your problem... Are you having a problem with the PTO not putting out enough power?? You should have the upgraded cams... can you post the first 3 digits of your tractors' serial number for us.

I have not called my dealer yet, but I now have the same issue with my L2800HST. Engage the PTO and apply any pressure to the implement, and the PTO will stop turning and make a very bad ratcheting noise. Is this the PTO Cam issue?

Regards,

- Just Gary

Seems to be... let us know what the dealer says (and how much it was to upgrade the cams).

I have a 2003 gear L2600DT that I bought March this year with 201hrs on it. It looks like the PTO has never been used based on the amount of paint still on it, and I've just purchased a tiller, so I'm going to be using the PTO. Is the cable issue just on the HST models, or is this something that I need to be concerned about?
