Pto lift arm only go half way

I have a john Deere 3520 and the pto lift arms only go half way up. The front buck works and so doesn't the belly mower pto work. There is a big yellow cap Behind the seat that I unscrewed and there is pretty much empty. Is this suppose to be full? I can lower and raise the lift arms half way but not enough to lift a brush hog or me standing on them based the hLf way mark. And advice?new to tractor?

Do you also have a draft control lever or knob in addition to the standard lift lever on that particular unit?

I am a newbie. Just got my tractor used from a john Deere dealership and they are suppose to be getting me a manual. I am guessing you are talking about the black round nob in the front. I turned it one way tried it then turned it all the way the other way. To me it seems like it controls how fast the bar goes down. But it only comes up half way. Does it need more hydronic fluid?

It never hurts to check the fluid level with all implements in the down position but if your FEL works correctly there is probably enough. Does your unit have a additional lift handle on the outside rear of the tractor to lift and lower the arms while attaching a implement? I am just trying to figure out what you might have on your set up that may need to be adjusted.

operators manual = most likely tell you were locations are to check for fluid levels and how much and what type of oil to use.

jdparts.com = online parts manual

shop/service manual = better diagrams and descriptions of how to tear stuff apart, test stuff as you go, and put it back together.

with above said. operators manual ya best bet at this point.

if ya half way mechanically inclined would suggest getting the "shop/service manual"
