Need some help, I have a 1999 L2500 Kubota with 540RPM PTO and an old ford 3pt snowblower (2 stage), it is a standard and in low range it goes to fast in reverse to keep up with minimal snow (6in or more). Is there an after market PTO multiplier out there that will bring me up to 750 or greater to get the RPM's out of the blower to keep up with the speed in reverse?
Thanx

If I understand you correctly, you want to multiply the PTO speed so you can drop the engine speed (and thus ground speed) but still have 540 at the PTO, correct?

Hydraulic Pump / Motor Adaptors & Spindles

The also show one on the index at the bottom left that is a planitary gear reducer. I would expect that you could planitary gears in the oposite direction as long as they can handle the torque.

PTO Gearbox Fast Find

The PTO generators like Winco have a multiplying gearbox. They have to turn 540 into at least 1800. They might sell them as replacement parts.

I've actually been interested in something like this myself. I'd like to have a PTO generator, but I'd like one that ran with about half the pto speed, so the tractor could just idle along @ 1250 - 1300 rpms.

I've not found anything in the 1:1.5 - 1:2.5 range though.

The only problem with that is less RPM less engine HP and if you do try and run it at full RPM you will likely destroy the attachment the are not made for that speed

 Doesnt the L2500 have granny gears in low range? We had an older one and it did - - as well as 540/1000 PTO. Dont tell me Kubota has chopped valuable features :( .

This is the first time a Grey Market tractor would be better. We have 540,750, 900 and 1100 rpm PTOs.

To all, I do run my L2500 in Low range, and it only has 540 PTO (basic tractor). The old blower only has 3 blades on the fan part of the blower and would probably push more snow if I modified the blades to four instead of three, but a multilpier would let me get the RPMs up to move more snow without the cutting/and welding to go to 4 blades (I'm not sure that it would work anyway). My father-in-law runs his blower at 1000 RPM's and it works great. I don't know if any companies out there make a muliplier or not, but any help in finding one would be appreciated.

"get the RPMS up"?

IF you are running it at 540 PTO RPM, there is no "get the RPM's up". A blower meant to run at 540, was not meant to run beyond 540 RPM and could dis-assemble itself in a gross fashion if pushed beyond that. I know this dosn't answer your question, but this may be a case of the wrong impliment for your tractor or the wrong tractor for the impliment. It is a simple fact that thinngs ran outside their design parameters don't last, and sometimes kill people...

Good Luck

Hey Bob, I saw this in the recent Farm Show magazine. Could be worth checking out...

I see where John Deere offers a 540E option on their PTO which reduces engine rpm by 1/2 while maintaining 540 rpm shaft output. They claim a 25% fuel savings.

I'm going to try to make a chain drive doubler to run my pto alternator. I found sprockets at TSC of a capacity to take the hp with an overdrive ratio of about 1:2. One sprocket on the alternator input, one on a jackshaft and a 540 pto spline on the end of it.

I bought a frequency and voltage measuring device on eBay that I can plug into one of the 110 outlets to guage the exact tractor rpm that it will take.
