Hi,

Sorta-new-guy here. I was a member years ago but forgot my login-password, so I re-registered.

I have a 1988 JD 750 that I bought new with various attachments, details in another thread if anyone is interested.

I've also built/modified several attachments, and I'm reasonably handy with a torch and a welder. Again, details/pics if anybody is interested.

I have a chance to pick up a JD-264 front-mount sweeper for a VERY attractive price. Due to lack of a front PTO on the tractor, no parts availability, cost and the fact that I can't live without my FEL, I'm planning to adapt it for use on the 3PH.

My question is, will the PTO rotation need to be reversed to use a front mount attachment on the rear?

It should be the same.

Front pto (driven from a mid location) is usually 2100 rpm. Rear is 540 at rated engine rpm. I've used a 3:1 gearbox to adapt 540 to 2100 and 2100 to 540 for several implements. The gearbox reverses the rotation, though.

Ah. Good info. If I have to use a gearbox to speed it up, reversing rotation is easily accomplished. Thanks!
