Take off the retainer by removing 4 bolts to replace and put a new seal. I'd drain enough oil from the hyd in a clean 5 gallon bucket to be reused. I have ramp for oil change that is rated for 10000 lbs. I'd probably back up the rear end on the ramp, put tractor in rear gear, fully engage the brake, chock the front wheels just to avoid dumping any oil while changing the seal. The incline might be just enough to avoid collecting the hyd oil first hand.

Or, if you have enough hours on that tractor to warrant a hydraulic oil and filter change, go ahead and do that while you have it partially drained.

Not sure if yours has a thrust washer "captured" inside. My Ford 3055 had one and once the shaft is pulled, the washer falls down just enough to not allow the shaft back in.
My New Holland/Ford service manager told me to stick some grease on the thrust washer with a long screwdriver. I did that and the washer stayed in place long enough for me to slide the shaft back in.
Easy job, changing that seal. Make sure no burrs are on the shaft before sliding it through the new seal.
I think some logs bumped my shaft, while pushing brush with my BB, to start it leaking. After replacing the seal, I purchased a PTO shaft screw on cover.

I do not have a manual for repair, can you suggest what part i need and part numbers, seal, and where i can purchase it...appreciate this a lot!
While i am at it, i am going to change out the hydraulic fluids. The internet says the Ford Model 1920 hydraulic system capacity is 30.7 gallons!!! that has to be wrong!!! What brand of hydraulic oil is best?

30.7 is wrong. Yours should be about 25.4 U.S qrts. Open up the pdf below and you'll have all the info you need. Ford 134 or equivalent will work. I had for the last 6 years used TSC (Mystick, SP?) that met Ford 134 with no issue whatsoever.
