I just found out that the PTO shaft for $160 wouldn't even work....it's way too short. My min length is around 60" and the max length on that shaft is 58". Lucky I didn't order that one! I am looking here now: La Magdalena PTO Shafts LaMagdalena shafts from Spain.... quality should be good. Price is a lot more at $240 though.
Good thing you measured that before ordering!!!!
Another thing to consider is how both the cutter's gearbox and the tractor's PTO will be protected. Does your current PTO driveshaft have a shear bolt or slip clutch?
It should have one or the other and that should have prevented the damage to your (broken) PTO shaft (unless the shaft had been damaged previously, as you wrote in your first or second post).
If a slip clutch, it may not have been adjusted properly. If a shear bolt, it may have been the wrong grade.
If you have the manual for the cutter, it should tell you which grade bolt to use. If a slip clutch, it may even have instructions on setting the slip clutch.
Here's a Kodiak manual, but I don't know if it's for your model cutter:

If this manual does cover your cutter, you need a grade 2 shear bolt. Kodiak may even be a good source for the PTO drive shaft.
