pto stub shafts out the back of the tractor or the input shaft on an implement do NOT like thrust loads. thrust loads are BAD for them.. on a ford you will walk a split ring out of a groove, rounding the edges so it will no longer stay in.. then you have a ruined bearing carrier.
these shafts are not designed to have thrust play...
