Has anyone used these devices on thier tractors and can they cause damage to the PTO drive line by lenghting the shaft? Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

Shouldn't need over-running coupler with live pto or independent pto. Also many new small tractors w/o live pto have built-in over-running clutch in pto driveline.

Extension can cause damage if the shaft to the implement can't collapse short enough to accomodate the extension.
Easy to check. Put extension on tractor pto; hook implement to tractor BUT DON'T HOOK UP PTO; Raise implement so that pto on implement is level with pto on tractor. Now if in this position you can connect the implement pto to the tractor, everything should be just peachy.

Fredex,

Thanks for the info, my tractor dose have independent PTO. Now the PTO shafts for both my finnish mower and Bushhog can retract far enough not to bind if I wanted to add a shaft extension for the ease off connecting the implement PTO shaft to the tractor. Do you think that a 6" extension would add stress to the OEM PTO drive line?

Don't know for sure about stress changes due to a pto extension. But - they have been around for years. I haven't heard of problems. Maybe some of the regulars can add their thoughts.
