HI ALL,
Heres what i came up with.I decided to just go to the nearest tractor place and get the peices and fix it myself, rather than lose time at work and drive 50 miles out of my way.Iwent to this place and they were very nice.I showed the clerk the shaft. He said he couldnt tell accurately, what it was, unless i removed the yokes,or was able to seperatethe two halves. They were stuck togeather-BOY WERE THEY STUCK.They chained one yoke to a post in the shop, and pulled with a very large forklift-WOULDNT BUDGE!!!They cut it apart with a metal chop saw,so the clerk could id it to his patterns he had.The only problem was each piece male and female only came in 5 foot peices, they didnt have shorter[IF ANY ONE NEEDS A FOUR FT DRIVE LINE PM ME]
HERES THE DILEMA:
I cut the shafts 5 times until it didnt bottom out on the yoke at full height, its now has 1/2 inch of clearance[no way to limit lift height,on the adjustments on the 3 point, one side is stationary, other isnt,so only allowing you to lean the attachment to one side or the other.]I didnt want to try not to let it bottom out because if i forgot i could break something in the rear of the tractor. Idont know of any adjustment on the tractor itself to limit lift height,if so please tell me.
when chipper is on the ground[where it is when operating,]about 2 inches of spline connect. If i bring it up to level driveline got about 3.Ihave the legs adjusted full height on the unit.only option i can see is keep a couple 4 inch blocks to set the unit down on,for maximum drive sline connection.Im afraid if i make longer legs i could get hung up with the forward ones in my wood lot.
Heres some pics,ideas welcome
ALAN

It looks as though the front legs are adjustable. If it were me, I would adjust/make the legs so that the drive shaft was level with the tractor when in operation, and remove or raise the front legs when going to and from the wood lot.

The legs are in the last hole, and there is not enough steel to drill another hole,id have to make new ones up.Idid think about doing that, and having the ones close to the tractor remove.having just two legs in the back would work ok,until storage time right? The 3 point would hold up the front right?

how about adapting crank down style feet that you find on trailers. If you put those on all four sides then it would be very easy to control the hieght of the unit even on unlevel ground. then simply crank them up and/or swing them up out of the way and pin them up when you are on the go. Just a thought! ;)

The TPH should hold the load up OK. My little bx23 will hold up my box blade all day with out dropping any at all.
