I posted this a few months ago and I am still looking for one. I need the upper part of the PTO shaft for a Kubota FL1000 tiller. I just need the upper part that attaches to the tractor, 1 3/8 with 6 splines, with the universal joint and then it has the female coupler that slides over the bottom male part. The bottom male part has the slip clutch on it. I have it. I have tried 3 different dealers around here and they tell me I have to buy a complete shaft which is about $400.00. I have also checked TSC, and 2 other souces recommended with no luck. I have the indivual part numbers if needed. Just thought I would try again. Thanks for any help. zman

Do you have anyway to post a picture of the type of shaft you are looking for? I have square ones, rectangle ones, and even a triangle shaped one on my equipment. There are probably other shapes as well and many different sizes. If you could give us some more details about that particular shaft, I think it would help the search. There are also places here locally that repair drive shafts. If you could find a place in your area that does that type of work, they would have a lot of resources for finding parts.

As you can see from the pics, I actually have the female part that attaches to the tiller, not the male part. I need the male part that comes from the tractor. The i.d. of the female shaft is a little over a inch. It has 10 small spline grooves and one that is about3/8 of an inch wide. Any help is appreciated. zman

I spent some time at my local dealer today picking their brains regarding your pto shaft. I even emailed them the picture. They have been in business for over 50 years and they have not seen that particular shaft before. The parts guy tells me that for the FL1000 tiller there was two different pto assemblies. The newer style he can order the male part, but the older style, which looks to be the splined version like yours, he cannot any longer order just the male part. It subs to the entire pto shaft like you have already found out. They did suggest that a local machine shop may be able to turn you out a matching shaft if you take them the female part. You would still need to order the knuckles and joints for the end of the shaft. The problem may be that by the time you get all that done, you are still looking at a pretty hefty bill.
You could also take the female half to a drive shaft repair shop, have them cut off the existing splined shaft and have them weld a more conventional shaft onto it. (ie: square/rectangle). Then get a corresponding male counter part and you're set to go.

Sorry I don't have better news for you.
