Where can I locate a CV shaft for a 15' Bush Hog flex wing cutter? It's the main shaft from the tractor to the splitter gear box.

I am in the same boat after ripping my U joint apart to my post hole digger. I went to my local Kubota dealer and can order a drive shaft. I checked on Tractor Supply company and can order on online from them. The Kubota guy told me to check out our local driveline company which isn't too far from work. So I am going to bring my drive line to them to see what they can do.

I went to my local driveshaft/truck part house and they wanted $300 for a slip clutch I could order from Agri-Supply for $80 a couple of years ago. I get all I can from Agri-Supply now. There's been a couple of things I've had to get from the local Dealers that they Agri-Supply didn't stock, but PTO stuff is good chance they have it. bjr

How long is it when closed and what diameter is the input shaft on the gearbox and the # of splines? Be good to know what metric series is the driveline 5-6-7-8 etc? Ken Sweet

Get ready for a real shock when you find out how much the CVjoints cost. If you can get a new shaft for less then 1000 you will be very very lucky. Usually the dealers do not have just the parts to rebuild, but I have had luck getting rebuilt at drive shaft shops. Keep it good and greased when you get it back so you do not go through it again. If a double joint, CV joint is not slinging grease, and I mean lots, you are not greasing it enough. Most call for 10 pumps on the grease gun at least once a day when being run. Word or warning, do not replace with a standard single cross joint. It will not work right. You will have to shut down PTO to go around almost any kind of corner. I have not seen any double joints at Agri-Supply, but they have lots in stock that are not listed in the catalog.

Good luck finding the parts. I recently repaired a bent PTO shaft instead of spending the money on an entirely new one. Much smaller then what you have but still saved me about $150. It involved calling and visiting about 5 dealers and after I found a piece of shaft in the right size a truck repair shop pressed the bent drive shaft out and replaced it with the new piece. Luckily the joint was OK.

Not sure if it's new aftermarket or rebuilt, but got one at the local dealer for $800. New one cost $1300.
