Pto shaft spinning when pto shaft is disengaged

We have a 2012 jd 8285r the pto shaft is still turning when pto is not in engaged. Any reason what might be causing this?

Does your pto have a shaft brake? if it does, it is generally pressure actuated and so whatever supplies the pressure isn't supplying it and the sloshing of oil in the reservoir (i.e. the rear axle housing) can cause it to turn.

I am assuming it does we got it last year it has an electronic switch to turn it on and off also we can stop the shaft from turning with an object and as we increase the rpm it seems to slow the shaft down and eventually stop spinning

Sounds like it might need a clutch or control linkage adjustment.
