PTO shifter on BX2200

I just rock my whole 2200 with my body (by rocking back and forth) while i try to shift my 4WD or my PTO selection leaver
or even shifting from low or high range it all goes a little smoother this way.

There have been several threads on this subject. It is not a matter of WD40--unless you really do have a tight or sticky lever--and I would not use WD40--but anyway--the problem is that the gears are not synchromesh. If the gears stop with a tooth in alignment with another tooth it does not want to engage. This is why rocking the tractor helps. I have--with the tractor engine shut off--reached under and grabbed the PTO shaft and rotated it to another position. Time will help the gears "loosen" up for lack of a better tern (drinking Margarittas right now--brain slow). Bumping the hydro lever might also help. My 2410 does the same thing but it has a manual clutch and also bumping the hydro helps with it also. In any case no matter how long you own the tractor or how many hours on it there will be times the non syncro gears stop adjacent to one another and it will not shift without a little fiddling with it.
