I noticed the same thing that it was way to hot . Can't see how a cab tractor could cool the inside . It was about 92 when I was doing this also but I could really tell the heat difference .

You have to run the a/c on a 40* day. The a/c works good on the 4240 on 90*+ day.

I did some bush hogging for a guy on his tractor one time. It did not have a cab. When I got done my feet felt like they were on fire. I don't know where the heat was coming from.

I did not word that correctly. Any hydro feature may produce more heat than a direct drive like on the 135 MF.

The only thing I've used until I got my Kubota was my MF 1080 which is quite a bit bigger than my MX5100. The Kubota is a gear drive with about 27 hours on it and I've only noticed the heat in the seat when I'm bush hogging some thick, high grass.

I like the Kubota but I think I'm keeping my MF for bush hogging, I can use a bigger cutter and cut at a pretty fast clip. The Kubota is great for areas where I need a little more maneuverability - and will still do the job when I'm working on the MF ... which seems to be more and more these days.

I just was hoping for a little more coolness in the seat - especially since I put a canopy on the tractor.

I've got a MX4700 with LP 6' mower. Cutting a light or medium load, I run the tractor about 2400 rpm, but if the field is thick and tall about 2600-2700 rpm. It definitely makes a difference when the load gets higher to run the mower closer to 540 rpm (tractor at 2700 rpm).

They design the cutter to be worked at 540 rpm. Whats so hard to understand about that? Do you only drive your car at 1500rpms to get better life out of it? No thats silly. You drive at a sensible speed and get your desired results. you drive faster if you are in a hurry and want to get there (i.e. done faster) you drive a little slower and take things easier to put less wear and tear on the vehicle (maybe last longer) but you certainly dont watch your rpms because you might wear out the engine sooner in a car. The tractor motors we are dealing with are much much stronger yet we treat them with kid gloves. The machine was built to do work. If you don't need all the hp that the 540rpm gives you, pickup a gear and mow faster. If you are REALLY concerned about it, some machines (deere for instance since this is the only one I am aware of and I just realized this is a kubota forum, oops) has an e-pto option to get 540(!!!!!!) pto rpm at a lower engine speed.

I can tell you my new Landpride 50" reverse tine tiller and tractor is a lot happier at 2,000 rpm than full throttle in my soil.

What ever engine RPM that gives 540 PTO RPM typically is max RPM to run the engine for best long term results.

That is about 1800 engine RPM on the 800 Fords I grew up with and the same for our 265 MF i was cutting with today. As long as I stayed over 1000 engine RPM it was cutting OK but if the ground will permit I got WOT. My late FIL adjusted the linkage so 1800 was max RPM and I have not messed with it since the kids are starting to use it some. :)

I'm doing my annual "spring" brush hogging, and I definitely like the tractor running at 540 pto rpm. The cutter works better at the rated speed, the tractor is more responsive and doesn't labor as much. Everything is better at the rated rpm.
