Hard to get an individua to consider renting one because of liability. A wood chipper is inherently dangerous, so if someone got hurt it could go very badly. If you just need one for a short while check the rental yards, there are usually a lot available and they aren't too expensive. Around here you can get a 5 or 8" chipper for about $150 a day. Buying one is good if you do a lot of chipping or don't want to stack everything up or move it around. If you rent one maybe it'll buy you enough time to find a good used one.
I have a Patu 4" chipper. Once I got the blades sharp it worked much better, pulls most wood right thru it. I had it on my 22 hp massey. I might be talked into selling , it could use a new home. Seeing as I'm new to posting here I am not sure about selling , if its allowed.
