I have looked hard at that model. A friend wants to go halfs with me on mine. I am trying to talk him into getting that one so we can share and have both a monster power feed chipper and a shredder.

"it only discharges to the right."

markie61, you can turn the discharge chute 180 degrees... I installed mine one direction then turned it around (not sure which is correct because I've seen picture of it both ways). I ended up aiming it away from where I usually exit the tractor.. It would be nice if the chute rotated however.

I agree with everyone that it is not a leaf shredder and not advertised as such. Avocado wood is rather soft, but it will eat entire limbs if I have enough strength to put them in the chute. I just trim them down with a chainsaw first to get rid of the "forks" that are wider than the entry.

When feeding brush, make sure you don't have loose clothing that can catch on the brush and wear eye protection because twigs fly everywhere and sometimes get discharged right back at you.

Got mine at Adams tractor in Oregon... very satisfied.

I am sure some people will disagree. I wood say do not waste your money on the TPH12 pto chipper shredder unless they have made considerable changes to the verision they sold 10 years ago or so. It was a very light duty unit. I think it used to sell for around $1700. It is not much of an improvement over your Troy built unit.

I picked up my Jinma chipper yesterday. He only had one left and it was already put together. Darn the luck. I had it spinning in just a few minutes after hitting the ground. I was totally impressed with the performance. It way out did the pull behind units I had rented in the past. I plan another day of chipping and then putting it in the shop for tinkering at night this week. I hate this time change but it will give me time to do the tinkering on it I want to do. It is a little crude in fit and finish but actually better than I expected for a Chinese built unit. If it were perfect what would I have to do on these dark winter nights. You can only take so much " Survivor".

Cool! I really dig mine, too. Enjoy it safely.

Done half a dozen tree jobs with mine now - maple, oak, beech - works like a charm. Make sure you do your periodic maintenance and I think these little chippers will hold out just fine.

I have been pulling the small stumps with my mini excavator. I have found one tree that has a tap root to China.I almost turned my machine over trying to pull out a 2" stump. I can pull a 4" oak like a tent stake. I think it is a Beech. Have you found this or is it another tree?

Beech trees have an oval type leaf with a silver color bark. I pulled, or rather rolled a stump (with 16" round trunk) out of the ground with my TC-40D. The roots were tough but it didn't have any tap roots that grew deeper than normal for the size tree that I saw. The stump was bigger than the machine could lift so I rolled it out of the hole and rolled it into the woods - gently. You may have something different with that deep of a tap root- I don't know.

Beech trees have a wide but not deep root system. They're pretty easy to take out. They're a lot like a spruce.

Tap root to China... Sounds like an Elm. Good luck, they're a real bugger. I've seen big backhoes fight with them for hours, and they were only 8-10" diameter.
