I like the idea of power feed rollers on the Jinma as I spend forever manually feeding my current 6.5HP Sears unit, but how do the rollers treat a pitchfork of loose compost and leaves? Has anybody done this? )</font>

I don't know about the leaves but I'm sure it will treat the pitchfork rather harshly! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

anyhow like stated above it is more for wood/brush not the weeds and leaves. a shreader for leaves is much better or a good compost pile...

I paid $1400 for mine in a crate (neither assembled nor setup) from stock. If I had wanted to wait, I could have paid $1200 and ordered one. I got it at www.emerybuilt.com . I have seen them sold for $1700 in New England. Sometimes they are on Ebay.

Are you still happy with yours? I tried renting chippers two different places and was totally disappointed. I took them both back early. I plan on picking one up at the dealer you posted this week.

http://www.chinaimporters.com/tractors/woodchipper.htm have a list of dealers who stock Jinma tractors and chippers plus a video of the chipper in action. I looked at a dealer near me (N. CA) http://www.adamstractors.com/woodchipper.html who lists it for $1500

I am almost totally satisfied with mine. I considered my purchase very carefully, especially following the thread entitled "Chinese Chipper Review." Also, DIYGuy's articles in the CTOA forum helped me decide that I could handle any problem that came up.

The top three reasons to get this chipper:
1. Autofeed - I couldn't imagine a chipper without it.
2. Heavy Duty - This thing is heavy, thick steel. It should last for years.
3. 6" capacity - Anything larger than 4-5" is firewood, but it it is nice to have the option.

Top three things I'd change:
1. Discharge chute - it would be nice if you could adjust the direction of the chips. In only discharges to the right.
2. Leaves - leaves don't do much except get beat up and discharged. It would be nice if it would do a little shredding.
3. Toplink geometry - the 3ph seems funky and requires the toplink to be almost fully extended.

I encourage you to research the chipper fully, but am very happy and satisfied with it.

Thanks, I have read all the info you refer to. I have heard the short sides but am sure I can also handle a few mods. I am not going to use it much at one time. After renting a couple I decided I wanted to use one for an hour or two at a time and not be pressured into working myself to death to make rent count. I am looking forward to getting it. I'll follow this thread and let you all know if I find anything not already covered.

Another PTO chippper / shredder you might consider is the Bearcat. I purchased one from my local JD dealer. The shredder feature was one that I was looking for. This unit has a flywheel chipper and a 21 knife shredder fed from a separate chute. There is no auto-feed if that is an important feature. I also have a commercial Royer chipper that has an independent 16 hp Wisconsen. I plan to sell this now that I have the Bearcat /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Has anyone had experience with the Mackissic model TPH12 pto chipper shredder?I am thinking about purchasing one to replace my 5hp Troy-Bilt.
