I got an early start today because wanted to dig some post holes while it was still cool. Three hours later, i had 2 dug (lots of rock) and it was over 90 degrees. Point being, it is hot most of the time here in central TX and there have been several comments about the mower not performing well when the temp is in the upper-double or triple digits. I am a little concerned that my most used implement will not be active during the time of year it is most needed

Questions:

1.) can you mow when it is 105, but you just have to go slow up hills? Or does it give out completely?

2.) Can this be overcome by using specialty hydraulic oils?

3.) How significantly are other implements affected and how are they affected (e.g. lift strength, speed, etc)?

4.)Since the tractor is hydraulically driven, how is it affected?

5.) how do high temps affect an air cooled diesel engine?

I live in central Oklahoma and we get > 100 degree temperatures regularly in the summer. My 60" mower is the only implement that seems to be affected by the heat and only then if I put it under a lot of strain. The 48" brush hog does not seem to be affected. The post hole digger and mini hoe don't seem to be affected. no matter how much strain I put them under.

If you haven't already done so, take a look at Fourteen's answer to the initial heat problem. Too many people forget about the advantages of white.
As an early day automobile A/C installer, I always advised painting roofs white. When asked the obvious question, I would take the customer out to the parking lot, and hope for a black and a white car next to each other, then ask the person to place one hand on each, - question answered.

Forgive me I go off track sometimes and forget to come back.
The fuse to the cooling coil is very temperamental, make a good connection, then by-pass the temp control and have the fan running as soon as you turn on the ignition key, then it's always working to full potential.
