I basically wanted a thumb on the Mini-hoe for one thing. To lift fire wood logs to cut into stove length. The grapple bucket works but you still have a five foot log left in the middle. Their are better designs, but I figured PT's would work for what I needed it for and it looked quick and easy to install. I took the mini-hoe with thumb to a job yesterday and it worked about as expected. Picked up and removed logs and other debris from a small creek. One thing I found, is that you have to tighten the four bolts good or the thumb slides up the arm when you put a good amount of pressure on it. other wise it worked great. I also did some digging to find and unplug the upper end of a culvert pipe. The thumb didn't seem to be in the way to much but it did block my view of the bucket. In the future, I think I will just remove the thumb if I'm going to do anything more than a short digging project. Should only take five minutes to remove or put on. I know, that's an eternity to a PT guy.
Oh! The tractor's a little dirty. I did some mud bogging also.
One other pleasant surprise feature of the thumb. Turns out it's a great stand when parking the hoe.
