It's something I've harped on before, but 4wd=4wb. 2wd=2wb. If you drive in 2wd and hit the brakes, it brakes only the rear tires. In 4wd, the drivetrain transfers not only the engine power to the front wheels, but braking power as well. Honestly, my tractor only ever comes out of 4wd when I've got to pivot around one rear tire with the cutting brakes.
