Puffing black smoke

I wouldn't worry about it , I have a Massey that's done that for 20 years.

Will watch and see if it gets worse and if not just keep using until I can get a chance to maybe clean the injectors.

Now the thing is producing heavy black smoke for a few seconds at start up and then at full throttle initiation.

Have you done anything to change the symptoms? Added any cleaner or?

Try the cleaners first, run it hard. If that does not fix it you more than likely have a messed up injector tip, either dirt,worn or partially plugged. Like soundguy said cheap to check. The pump would be the last step. Fuel improperly atomized will not burn completly. And like was said if it is constant have you checked your air filter? CJ

Yes injector cleaner, have already replaced air and fuel filter first thing, will run it a bit longer and see if injector cleaner does anything before tearing into the injectors, I do however feel that it is a injector that one may have gotten some trash in it, from the looks of the old filter it would be a good assumption.
I do hope the cleaner works though.
Has anyone torn into the injectors? I have done automotive injectors and the one on the tractor look simpler than them. Any tricks or things to watch for?

Yeah, not constant, I have replaced filter and did revisit the filter housing yesterday just to make sure nothing was askew, which there wasn't.
I do hope it is the injectors and are only dirty and will clean up with added cleaner.
