I want to add a screen to my small landplane to remove gravels and small rocks.
Has anyone ever tried this?

How about putting a screen behind the blade and allowing the dirt to flow over the blade on to the screen?

What are you removing the rocks from, a lawn/field or a driveway?

The issue is that you would need to drag the dirt uphill over a narrow grate, and then capture the remaining rocks.
What depth do you plan to remove the rocks from in situ?

Is the soil wet or dry, clay or sand?

It's a baseball infield. A depth of only 3/4" in loose material screening down to 1/4" rock. Here's what I had thought might work.

I think that might work. You could make it longer, have a second rear section with a solid floor. Bring a shovel and move the loose stones by hand so you can do more field dragging without getting jammed up.

Are you thinking expanded metal for the screen?

i drag this old cyclone wire gate behind the YM14 and it usually picks up the large rocks, sticks etc and leave them on the gate but the smaller stuff behind. it levels out well, breaks up horse dung and the likes.

I wonder if a blade or tines would be better. I'm thinking tines would require fewer hp to pull and only rocks would travel up and over the "blade" and onto the collection screen. In the photo above crash uses railroad stakes as tines.

I tried the design with a 1/4" screen. The material filters very slowly. I think it needs some shaking or vibration to operate as it needs to. Any ideas?
