Has anyone bought and used a dual bladed so-called super grader. I saw on several web sites where they are shown and they look to be a nice piece of equipment. Talked to a dealer and he said they have skid shoes that set the two blade heights. They are suppose to be great for scraping hard packed drives and road beds. I was wondering if anyone has used them for grading
dirt. They come in 4' to 12' lengths. The 8' length I priced was $ 850.00.I did
I'm located in northeast arkansas.Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I purchased a Duragrader and definately recommend it. Compared to the old box blade this implement grades a beautiful road in just a few passes. I did have a heck of a time getting my unit after prepaying so if you use this vendor I strongly suggest COD.

Have not used one, but I bet they are the thing for gravel roads!

I just purchased the Howse 6' unit and am very pleased with the results.
Working hardpack, gravel and loose dirt is a no brainer as long as the surface is dry. Any moisture in the material causes the unit to load up.
Ruts, washboard and pot holes are gone with a couple of passes and crowning is built in to the blade settings.

As I said pretty much a no brainer and certainly a time saver.

Wayne...glad you got your duragrader from Mr.Seal. I was wondering if you ever did get it from him. I did call him about the COD and he said COD would add 3/4 to the total cost. That is highway robbery in my opinion. I decided against it cause of COD charges and how much they charge for shipping. So, I built me one. I have a picture of it and a few that I did for a friend. I have since paid my off by doing other folks driveways. By the way, it cost me $600 to build one. Well worth it in my book.

Down in Louisiana we call them Bionic blades. They do a fantastic job on gravel roads and for leveling out a yard, etc.

My brother and I built ours about 6-7 years ago and it gets used regularly on neighbors driveways and on the hunting lease trails.

I purchased one up here in Alberta from a manufacturer located about 20 miles from my place. It is the the 7 foot model. I pull it with my B414. You can see it here: http://www.conterraindustries.com/PDF_new/Grader_3.jpg

I maintain 1 mile of gravel road coming down a fairly steep coulee into my place. Like it was mentioned before it works great when the road is dry. If the gravel and soil are wet the material piles up in the box between the two blades and also piles up in front of the blade closest to the tractor.

For you guys that are using a similiar implement how do you deal with conditions where you are also cutting out some vegetation, like the road edges? I find that vegetation really jams up material in the implement and I spend a lot of time pulling and yanking it out. It really binds up between the blades. Do you have a system to avoid this?

Thanks
Ken

Here is the thread that will give you the info that you need to build one. My blades are not adjustable at all. I can unbolt them, but that is it.

I dont have a system. Always keep in mind, the drier the material, the better they perform. As for the road or driveway edges, mine cut's right through it with no problem. If it does collect in the implement, I stop, pull up the 3pt and back up until it is smooth or dry some. Then take back off going straight. My back blade sets flush with the side skids, so if I back up, it will destroy a pile of rock, dirt or what ever it come in contact with. The only thing it will not smooth is muddy dirt.

Maybe a little heavier or build some brackets so I can add some weight to it when extra weight is needed. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it.

I WAS LOOKING FOR A BOX BLADE, BUT WAS TALKED INTO TRYING A SUPER GRADER. GLAD I DID. IT WILL BRING THE GRAVEL BACK OUT ON YOUR DRIVES. I ALSO USE IT ON MY TRAILS IN THE WOODS. IT TAKES SEVERAL PASSES TO BE PERFECTLY SMOOTH. BUT, IT DOESN'T DIG IN LIKE A BOX BLADE. THE BLADES ARE CAT BLADES AND ARE REPLACEBLE.
IT WAS BUILT IN ARKANSAS, WEST OF WYNNE.

THEY COME IN DIFFERANT WITHES. MINE IS SIX FEET.
