On a MF with a std steering wheel it can be just as good to just take a grinder an cut it, a new one dosen cost much and the old can sit really hard so its a time/cost issue.

Several ideas provided. I cannot top them. When you get it off; sand off all the rust then coat the shaft with an anti-seize product when reassembling. The next guy (maybe you) will bless you.

a bearing separator, can be used to go under the wheel, and then a puller with bolts can be used to get a grip on it,

You folks in Norway have more money than I do. I'll be repairing the original wheel cracks with epoxy then painting the wheel and sewing a cover on it. With the money I save, I can buy a bottle of Akvavit and have a party.

I just wanted to say thank you to the Forum, I used a bearing style puller and it came right off. thanks for all the good knowledge and help.

Well, I had a closer look at my steering wheel today and tried some socket wrenches on it. Seems it is metric. The 1 1/4" socket didn't fit so, I'll have to find a metric. Does anybody know for sure what the nut size is?

It can't be an easy task. A car steering wheel is usually only a few years old and kept inside the passenger compartment. This tractor has probably been outside for almost sixty years. And probably no one thought or cared to give it a lick of grease.

Some tractors and assemblies get greased at the factory during assembly, the first and only time they have seen grease.
