Pulling off set disc with 60hp Massey?

Anyone pulling an offset disc harrow (pull type or 3pt hitch style) with a newer Massey Ferguson 2706E (60hp) 4x4 with front end loader? Or any Massey tractor that would be comparable to what I have? Looking at buying an offset for helping with primarily tillage on food plots & wandering how it will handle it. Not looking to have to go over the ground 500 times to get it plantable like you do with a regular style disc. Thanks in advance for any reply痴!

Google the hp requirements per foot from the disc manufacturer. The 2706E does not have draft - draft automatically raises the 3 point a little when the load increases beyond a set point and lowers it when the load decreases - no a deal breaker, just means you will need to adjust the 3 point on the go yourself if you buy a 3 pt mounted unit. If your tractor is a hydro keep in mind that hydro's will pull about 15% less than a gear transmission due to the efficiences with-in an HST system.

So much depends on your exact conditions. I would say that an 8' or 9' at tops would be what you could use. I have old Kielfer pull disks with 22" pans that weigh around 2500lbs for the 8 footer and around 4000lbs on the 12 footer. There are times going up our rolling hills that it is all that my 75hp 10,000lb plus tractor wants pulling the 8 footer.

I can pull the 12' disk on level ground only and only on a one pass run. It will not pull a 2nd pass. The Cat is typically used when the 12 footer is used.

If you can find a 9" 3pt disk, you could use that along with making use of the tractors draft control feature.

To start with, if you are going to be disking very much, I highly recommend that you take the loader off. It's hard on the loader and rattles way more than I ever cared for.

I think that now days most of the ratings are for 4wd and is what I would think that the rating is for, unless otherwise listed.

Without knowing what the area is like that you're working it's only a guess as to what will work the best for you. To play it safe if you are not able to get other input, just get a set that is rated for 60hp.

I have a 2606H that weighs in right at 7000lbs with added weight. I pull an old TCW-20 Rome pull type offset with worn out discs and let me tell you, that's all that tractor wants and more than it wants depending on ground conditions. The horsepower is not a problem. The turbo spools up and it has no problem pulling. It runs out of traction way before it will ever run out of motor. sure, I can feather the lift wheels and adjust the cutting depth to help out but man that's a lot of work. I believe you will find yourself working you and your tractor way hard with an offset disc. Have you considered a turner/breaking plow then running your disc over it?

MF2706E can pull a Three Point Hitch mounted Tandem Disc Harrow with 22" diameter pans, 1,300 pounds weight, in any kind of soil.

With a mounted Tandem Disc Harrow you can lift to turn in minimal space, adjust gang angles for soil conditions and still leave a relatively smooth plot behind the harrow. If you will be pulling disc between trees I recommend a Disc no wider than your rear tires, preferably 12" narrower.

A pulled Offset Disc takes an awful lot of room to turn.

Monroe Tufline makes both TANDEM and OFFSET mounted Disc Harrows of highest quality.

Consider TL43 series, heavier T4X series; both Tandem. Tufline's 9" front gang pan spacing with 7" rear gang pan spacing on some models cuts well and smooths better than 9" pan spacing front and rear.

The manufactures do not know customer location, soil condition nor soil moisture. A specific recommendation could be be considered an implied warranty so information is general; probably conservative.

Discing in Florida, Maine and New Mexico have varied requirements.

I could pull an old 7-ft Towner offset disc with my 2008 Mahindra 5525 (55 hp engine, 45 hp pto, ? hp drawbar). I added about 480 lb of concrete weight to get it to work in pretty dry soil.
