Pulling power of a B21 TLB???

I've bought an old B21, only 21 gross HP but with all the torque multiplication going on and 4-wheel drive just how much pulling power can this small tractor develope? I finished digging a rather big stump loose yesterday, now the stump which weighs more than the hoe can lift is going to have to be towed out of the hole, I dug a ramp out of the hole to drag the stump up but was wondering if a Grade 70 5/16" chain rated for 4700 lb. was strong enough? I'm pretty sure it's more than up to the task but just wanted to check. I'll be hooking the chain to the reciever point way under the tractor.

Oh well, couldn't wait for advice, I just pulled it out, loaded the bucket to add weight and it didn't even spin a tire, notice stump behind tractor.

My guess is that your tractor would loose traction long before the 5/16 chain gives in.

I've found that to be able to get underneath the root and lift a bit and push works well for getting the most traction. Just keep the throttle up and be in low range, just be careful!

The 21 hp is enough to spin 3 tires (differential lock + 1 front). I filled the rear tires on mine and this helped with getting more traction.

Do not jerk the chain, and be real careful that your chain hooks are chinched correctly and stronger than the chain.

My L39 has opened hooks, but not broken the same size chain.
