Certainly your choice.

I should last longer than my ordinary sheet steel one that usually lasts a season. Charcoal ash is very acidic when it gets damp.

I am not worried about adhesion. But even on the outside, I think the paint will just burn off. I think I am just going to leave it stainless

You paid for that pretty stainless steel, I see no need to add a maintenance headache by painting it.

This is my thinking too, all though I must confess, I did not pay for it:D

It was free in the scraps dumpster where I work. Used to be a guard off a machine. It had a big enough section to do what I needed here:thumbsup:

Free SS is even better. Don't paint it, and let everyone think you splurged big time.

before I realized what was happening, he grabbed it, pulled it out a bit and snapped the tape in two. At that point, I was getting a little hot, after all Starrett ain't cheap and he just trashed my tape measure.

Quick as a wink, He took my tape measure, clamped it to a copper backer and tigged it back together, barely discoloring the paint. It's still together today.

You should've grabbed his glasses and broke them in two. You could have said, 'here's a real test, see if you can fix these now..'
