pulverizer springs

I'm about half way done building a pulverizer (more time than money) and I need 2 compression springs. Anyone here know a source for these? All I can seem to find are the little ones that are in hardware stores. The tractor dealers want to sell me a replacement part-- way too much money. Thanks for any replies. Billy

When I built my pulverizer I bought my springs at TSC (Tractor Supply).

I have know idea how much it weighs to be honest. Things I would do different? Given what materials I had to worth with, I really can't think of anything. When I build something like this I usually do it with the least expense I can. I want to build a piece that is well built but I don't want to spend a ton of money on it either. There is one weak link that could have been built better had I the parts on hand. The bearings on the roller are from the gauge wheels of a grey market tiller. They aren't as durable as pillow blocks would have been, but that is what I had on hand. I did drill a hole and mount grease fittings in the bearing housing. To help prevent damage I make wide sweeping turns or raise it up to make a sharp turn. Other than the expense part when I build something from what I have on hand it is kind of like my very own "Junkyard Wars". One thing that is different about mine is that the spikes on the roller are about twice as long as those on a store bought one.

I have been thinking about building one of these. Mainly because I got some free pipe and feel the need to build something. Anyhow do you have a pic of land that has been worked with one of these? would it be worth the time to build being that I am in Fla and everything is sand to start with?
