Just built a new house and the lawn was sewn in winter rye. This spring I will have to sew a permanent grass, probably fescue. I have a friend who got a pulverizer with a tractor he just bought and I can borrow the pulverizer. My question is: do you pulverize before you sew seed or after or both. Thanks in advance for your help - Lewis

Allpontiac, I would do it before, Is your ground as level as you would like it? If so the pulverizer would loosen up the topsoil and provide a good surface for seeding, and you could also do some slight grading with it as well...You will obviously tear up any grass that is currently in place which can cause some eroding in the spring rains ...(maybe)

Another good item would be an aerator which is better for over seeding but you don't mention that , Maybe you could convince your friend he needs one and you could borrow it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good Luck /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
