Its slowly been getting dearer for years so whats new. Just hope they find an alternative in the next 30 years or so or we will all be back on horses! then we will be in the poo. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

( I agree with you, Andy. The 5 gallons of diesel I burn each week in my tractor is minimum compared to the 40 gallons I burn commuting back and forth to work. I'm not ready to give up on either of them yet. I do feel sorry for truckers and farmers, but those costs should be passed on to the consumer in higher costs of goods and services. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif )

There is about 7 cents worth of my corn in a box of $3 corn flakes, but I'm sure I won't get to pass on the increased cost of fuel, ferilizer, & iron on to those who buy my grain.

Farming is about the only commodity enterprise where we buy retail & sell wholesale. We don't get to set our sell prices, or add a fuel or iron sur-tax as other industries are doing.

Guess I'm dumb enough to do it, so not complaining here. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

you're right soundguy, they are gentle animals...except the time I was holding the mule and my wife stuck a needle in his neck. Took me half way across the pasture until I figured out he won. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

That's why every time I eat, I thank a farmer. Uhfortunately it's a hard job with things that happen all the time that are beyond your control. On the bright side, last night I saw a station with diesel for $1.89 a gallon. Tonight there was another one and I filled up my tank with 30 gallons. Maybe this is the beginning of a downward trend. I'd sure hope we could keep diesel below $2.00 a gallon all the way through this winter. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

My quarter horses are great about taking the needle. My mini is a tad squeamish.. but not so bad that I can't hold him. My cow on the other hand... she got a tad weird the first time i vaccinated her.. but once both of us figured out 'how to do it' it wasn't much of a problem.

We HAVE to take one of ours to the vet for shots. My wife and I have been around horses our entire lives, (she was even an Animal Science major at Kansas State) but we have NEVER seen anything like one of our quarter horses. She flips out. Clipping is even worse. She has to go to Dr Ken the Barber for that too. She fights even after she's sedated. It's something about her bloodlines. Most of them in her breeding are that way. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
