Pump & Well system

What do you mean by stop cycle. You probably have a 40/60 psi regulator. When and if you do your sprinkler system, look at the paper work for the sprinkler heads, and determine the spacing of the heads by the GPM orifice installed and the pressure, and size of PVC. I would say that you have a pretty good system installed. A simple CAD program will help you lay out your sprinkler system.

If you get one of these 3 hp Flint and Walling 4" Submersible Water Well Pumps (3 phase pump)

and you get one of these

You will have a pretty neat system. The VFD can be setup to gently ramp up the speed on the pump, and ramp it down, which may be important if your supply is marginal or running on emergency power. The pump will last longer and the operating frequency can be shifted to take into acount changes in the wells delivery (lower frequency if delivery is low and higher if the well can keep up and you need more water faster).

Basically the VFD makes for a very smooth flexible to operate system and it is cheap today.

Look at the grunfus pumps the drive is built into the pump and no surge involved
They and goulds have a constant pressure system too which have vs drive in the control system

I have a sqflex 3gpm (low yeald well) and have been happy with pump not so happy with the well but that is another story.

I did talk to some one at aermotor and they said that pump had to turn a minimum speed to keep the pump bearings lubed (water) or it would be hard on them.

westcliffe01 posted a hyperlink to Bennett Water Systems. I bought a F&W constant pressure system from them three years ago and was completely satisfied with both the product and the service. Bennett was very helpful in designing the system and in making sure I had every little nut and bolt needed for a complete system set down 300'.

I looked at the other pumps Tom refers to with the variable frequency drive in the motor rather than in a separate above-ground box like F&W, but Bennett convinced me that the remote drive is preferable in a lightning area like ours because it can be protected with a separate ground system connected directly to it and a dedicated lightning arrestor, and because if it is damaged it can be replaced without pulling the pump. That is probably one of those arguments that has no clear winner, but I bought into Bennet's analysis anyway.
