Pumpkin disease ID help

Hi all,
my pumpkin plant leaves are getting a whitish grey growth on them almost like frost or mold. Seems to be spreading from the main vine outward. I do not see any evidence of the leaves being eaten by bugs. Any ideas on what this is and what the cure would be? Was going to take some pictures but the battery in the camera is dead.

Probably powdery mildew or another very similar mildew disease. Do a search on Google. Often sulfer based sprays can help. Try this link.

i agree with jimmy...powdery mildew. my pumpkins get it every year and it causes the foliage to die back and reveal the pumpkins growing underneath.

Yes, I have had this problem with melons too. Check the seed catalogs for hybrid types that are resistant to mildew.
