I planted about 3/4 acre of pumpkins this year for pig feed in the same area that was planted with pumpkins last year. Last year I had over 100 pumpkins from this patch.
This year we had so much rain that I was only able to cultivate once early in the summer and then the rain took over. We've been averaging over 10 inches per month. I'm hoping to get into the patch this weekend to see if I have any pumpkins but in places the weeds are almost 4 feet high. I've never seen anything like this before.
Anyone have any ideas on how to prevent this nest year? I thought about mulch but don't know how I'd mulch 3/4 of an acre.
