My 63yr old wife can't operate any of my old manual antique tractors... :)

If you'd trad 'er in for three 21's..... you'd no longer have a problem with all those old tracters? :stirthepot:

Oh, about 20 yrs ago when my ol lady turned 40, I told her I may trade her in for two 20's.
She said "you ain't wired for 220".

OK, so I gotta ask .....

I use a walk behind field and brush mower. It will take off up to 3" saplings with little trouble. Those don't bother me too much, but the 1" diameter and under are concerning me. They end up being 2-3" inch tall sharpened sticks until they rot off a couple of years later. Some rot quicker, but some almost harden for a while.

I drove over a few of them with R4s with no damage, but do I want to do that?

Had to pull an f150 out of the cornfeild in front of my house he was completly buried. My 2538 with loaded r4s pulled him out without a problem and i was in the mud myself. I was very surprised.

One thing you can do is use a non sharpened brush hog. just a 1/8 - 1/16 " flat on the blade, and it tends to shatter the sapplings instead of making spears out of them.

I have one time had a half bald front tri rib on my NH 7610S had a 1" spear go thru. they were 10-16's A thick farm patch and new tube ( and new lug stud and nut ) got me going again.

You talkin' to me?

Are YOU talkin' to ME?

You must be talkin to me, I don't see anybody else here.

(OK, maybe you didn't see that movie.)

Yeah, my brush mower has a rounded beater bar blade. Smashes 'em off instead of cutting, but they can still be rather nasty when they get Sun dried before they rot off. Ankle turners for sure.

The best possible solution to the R1 vs R4 debate is to simply buy 2 tractors. Get one with R1 and the other with R4 and use whichever tractor will have the best traction for the conditions you're using it in.

Also as a side benefit, if you are foolish enough to teach your wife to drive your tractor then you'll still have one to use for yourself!

You can never have too many tractors....LOL.

The reason I went HST. After my last left knee scope, the Dr said no more. The next will be full replacement ! OUCH !

Ah yes, physical limitations as we age, as much as I have always preferred standard transmissions in my cars and trucks, osteoarthritis in my feet makes repeatedly working a clutch very painful. The knees are not much better.
