Its early april and if it would be 2 to 3 weeks out it would be just may 1. If you're impatient spend your time figuring how and what you will do on each of those projects when the tractor gets there. Why??? So you do the smart thing and not make a poor decision to hurry and take a unit you don't want. Let Barlow's get you what you want and deserve.

Great advice!
I definitely have other work to do, and can plan for those 2-3 weeks.

My only concern is that if I get a tractor from Barlows and they ship it here. What if when it comes it's covered in rust worse than the tractor I am looking at?
Anyone have experience with rust and barlows shipped tractor?

If you wait and get a 2015 model in about a month if it gets wet it will have rust on it

That could very well be.

The one I was going to pick up today :banghead: was received by the dealership on 10/30/2014. I actually tried it out, in January. When I last saw it, it had 2.x hours on it. It had some rust, on the ROPS, that looked like something had scratched it. The dealer was going to sand it down and repaint it, free. I did notice some of the welds had a lot of splatter, mostly on the ROPS, but it's a tractor, not a show car.

What's different about the 2015 made models?

I asked the dealer to repaint it, he said he would only do the normal wash/wax they do. That's about what the rust looked like on the tractor I looked at... just everywhere there was a scratch... rust.

I distinguish between busted and rusted. I can't recall a thread reporting a tractor rusting apart and losing function.

If you can house the tractor indoors, wash it after each use, touch up all scratches immediately after use, then by all means seek an immaculate tractor.

Myself, I don't have that kind of time or discipline. I look at rust/scratches as analogous to pregnancy stretch marks: signs of the hard work over time required to achieve a desired and joyful outcome. Perfection sometimes must be sacrificed to achieve what we desire.

That's a great way to look at it, battle scars.

Although, I have had rust make things inoperable. Not sure how destructive rust is in Texas, but here in the midwest rust destroys equipment. First they don't operate as the should. They don't slide, rotate, or otherwise perform. Then they just fall apart. If you can prevent/slow rust your equipment will operate better and last longer.

I'd rather show off a scratch or dent, that has obviously been spray painted. Still not showroom ready, but won't be falling apart from rust either.
