BLUE CARPENTER, I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING YOUR THREAD AND THOUGHT BEING YOU ARE GOING TO BE DOING A LOT OF BACKHOE LOADER WORK, YOU SHOULD GIVE THE MAHINDRA SOME EXTRA ATTENTION. I KNOW THE 4110 IS A HEAVIER TRACTOR THAN THE FARMTRAC DT390, OR THE KIOTI DK40, THE MASSEY I'M NOT SURE OF. THE EXTRA WEIGHT OF THE MAHINDRA MAKES MORE STABILITY ON HILLS, MORE TRACTION, MORE DIGGING FORCE, AND DURABILITY OF THE TRACTOR COMPONENTS. I HAVE SOLD SOME OF THE 3510'S WITH 3375, AND 509 BACKHOES ON THEM, TO PEOPLE THAT RUN FULL SIZE DEDICATED BACKHOES, ALL DAY ON THEIR JOB, AND THEY TELL ME THE MAHINDRA COMBINATION IS THE NEXT BEST THING TO A FULL SIZE DEDICATED BACKHOE. IF YOU DECIDE ON THE 509 BACKHOE BE SURE YOU GET IT WITH THE PTO PUMP SETUP, YOU WILL BE HAPPIER WITH THE PERFORMANCE. THE 3375 BACKHOE WILL OPERATE WELL WORKING OFF OF THE TRACTOR HYDRAULICS. THE 3375 AND 509 BACKHOE'S ARE MADE BY BRADCO, ONE OF THE BEST NAMES IN ADD ON BACKHOES. I THINK IF YOU REALLY COMPARE THE SPECS ON THE TRACTOR, LOADER, AND BACKHOE YOU WILL FIND THE MAHINDRA THE BEST VALUE FOR THE MONEY.

your the second person that I've heard say the mahindra backhoe runs close to the same as a full size backhoe. Do you know what on average it will use for fuel in an hour?
Looking at the massey fergusen it weights about at most 3300 pounds tractor weight I think. From looking at all the posts I think that I would be better off with a little heavyer tractor also. I'm not worried about having something light to mow my yard. I have a lawn mower for that. I just want a compact tractor that will be a good work horse for a good long time.
What engine do they put in the Mahindra, as in who makes it? Also it was the 509 that I was looking at. What I don't understand is the Digging force that they always give you specs on. ??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I do know this that they are ALL good tractors. Some just suit your needs better. thanks mark

MARK, THE MAHINDRA RUNS A DAEDONG 4A200 4 CYL. ENGINE. THE DAEDONG IS SOUTH KOREAN ENGINE. (DAEDONG ALSO MAKES KIOTI TRACTORS) THE ENGINE IS VERY SIMILAR TO A KUBOTA MADE ENGINE. THE FUEL PER HOUR CONSUMPTION, I DON'T KNOW THE SPEC., BUT MY CUSTOMERS TELL ME IT IS VERY ECONOMICAL TO RUN. THE BACKHOE SPECS., IF YOU COMPARE THEM LINE FOR LINE WITH THE COMPETION, YOU WILL SEE THE 509 WILL SURPASS MOST OF THE COMPETITION IN A 9' BACKHOE CATEGORY. I WISH I COULD BE MAKING A SALE TO YOU, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE FOUND A MAHINDRA DEALER IN YOUR AREA THAT WILL SERVICE YOU WELL.

GOOD LUCK,

( My wife pretty much told me that I was going to get something in the 35 to 40 horse range So that I wouldn't wish later that I had gotten a little bigger hp tractor )

Women are funny like that. When i bought my NH 1920.. I had been looking at a TC18 due to price.. The wife said it would never be big enough.. and to get a bigger one.. We had stopped and looked at an old (cheap) ford 8000 but that was 'huge' I figured.(she liked it though). anyway.. lucked out and fell into the 1920 for a bit more money than the tc18.. the 1920 served me well till my tractor time became limited.. then I traded it back at the same dealer for a 7610s... then the wife gave me that 'i told you so' talk and said that in the end I had gotten something closer to the 8000 that she had wanted me to get in the first place... I couldn't argue with that logic! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I don't think you would go wrong with the big Mahindra models, but get the largest hoe you can afford. You won't regret the extra length and strength of the larger hoes.
If you decide to check out Kioti, I would go for the DK45 with the 8.5' hoe. The telescoping hitch arms, stabilizers and lift up PTO guard make hook up easier. These are good heavy tractors and the engines are virtually trouble free for many thousands of hours, so the Mahindra with Daedong Engine will last a long time as well.
One thing I must say though is that with either Mahindra or Kioti, many dealers do not keep a large stock of parts on hand, but must be ordered. If you are going to do a lot of commercial work, you may need to go with Kubota, JD, or New Holland because they usually have a larger stockpile of parts on hand and can get you working again faster. That said, my Kioti dealer has a lot of commercial customers and there hasn't really been any problem, but it must be considered. John
EDIT: About the tiller: Maintenance is not all that high on these and they are a great versatile tool to use in landscaping and small gardens. Make sure you match its size to your PTO HP for best results. John
