I have narrowered it down to a MX5000 4x4 with a LB702 FEL or a New Holland TC48DA 4x4 with a 18LA FEL. They are both in the same price range. I will be primarily using the tractor for field mowing with a 6ft bush hog. I currently own a L3400, but it's time to upgrade. I'm hoping for some good feedback.

Thanks
Ryan

I have a friend who owns a 1978 equivalent of the MX5000. He's never had a problem with it, brags on it just like I would brag on mine. Of course, you are asking in a Kubota forum. I have never owned a NH. We're all different, but I just hate the looks of those white wheels set against that so-so blue. I never even drove one before buying my first Kubota. I would have in spite of the color, but every person I know that owns Kubota has been pleased and that goes back to a friend that bought one around 1976-77. It's just hard to argue with success and now I have 4 years success of my own to prove it. So now I have two Kubotas! Best wishes in your search and for sure, buy the NH if it fits your needs best.

ps . . . better yet, move up to the Kubota M5040 - very, very nice!!

Terry, thanks for the advise. I really like my L3400, but I just need something bigger. I've been quoted $22450.00 for the MX5000 with the LB702 FEL R4 tires & a set of remotes. For the M5040 I was quoted around $4000.00 more and I don't think for the same power I can justify it. I posted under the New Hollan forum as well and am waiting for some replies.

Thanks again

Ryan,

I am new to this formum and also a new Kubota owner. I looked at NH before purchasing my Kubota, in fact the dealer also sold NH. For me I like how the Kubota felt. I did not like the position of the Hi/Low range selector on the NH (under the seat), it did not seem very convienent. There were also other minor and I emphasize minor details that steered me more to the Kubota. Both tractors I am sure will do you job fine. The small differnces made the decision for me. Just drive both and whichever feels the best to you.

Thanks Quenton, I will take another look at that today on the NH. All bet you get a lot done on that 7040?

The 7040 has worked out really nice for me so far. I have moved about 100 yards of dirt and clay with the front end loader for a building pad I am starting and I have also mowed using a 15' batwing mower. You really feel like you get something done with that mower. Good luck with your shopping. That was as much fun for me as owning the tractor is.

Buy the Kubota. I owned the NH 48 and did not like it. Too light in back. Very unstable.

I'm pretty sure I will be sticking with Kubota, but I'm now looking at the MX5000 or the M57. I'm not sure if I need that much power, because I only have 5 acres, but I'm starting to do more mowing jobs and some of the jobs are pretty big. I will be adding 4x4 and a FEL along with R4 tires filled for the extra weight. Thanks for everone's opion.
