Had a hard time deciding, but purchased the 2800 yesterday.
For the money, it's hard to beat. Got it with the loader also. I have 7.5 acres, approx. 5 will be lawn/field. The dealer still has the leftover 2410( maybe the last new one available?)with loader for 12,900. Almost bought it, but I went with the larger tractor. This forum has been helpful(spent hours reading) I know my wife is happy I've finally bought one. Brochures and literature all around the house, dozens of trips to different dealer.

congrats, I did the same thing friday & finally decided the L2800 was worth the extra money, yet was less than JD, massey, newholland, cadet, etc for the same size & features.

now i'm just hoping i didnt need the l3400 for just 2k more.

I purchased an L2800 with FEL and 5 ft. International brush hog a few weeks ago. I was a little concerned that maybe I should have purchased the L3400, but my budget (or lack of it) had to stop somewhere (I started out looking at the BX series). This past weekend I moved a huge amount of topsoil by the bucket-full, moved a few fully loaded buckets of gravel, and carried a large old sandstone foundations stone uphill while I ran the brush hog behind me. The engine hasn't bogged down yet. I think I'm learning (from this forum) that if I do have a power issued it will be how much weight I can pull or what implements I can use. For instance, I wanted to rent a no-till drill but did not have the recommended horsepower.

Anyway its a great tractor.

I thought about going with the 3400, but I also had to stop somewhere. I'm not really concerned about lack of power. Should do fine on my completely flat property.

I just got the 2800 series myself 3 days ago and when I have the pto engaged driving the bush hog and push in the clutch there is a ratcheting sound coming from the PTO which stops when I disengage the PTO? I asked the dealer and he said it was the clutch spinning free as it is an overrun clutch and it is to protect the tranny? Do all 2800 tractors do this?
