( I just got the 2800 series myself 3 days ago and when I have the pto engaged driving the bush hog and push in the clutch there is a ratcheting sound coming from the PTO which stops when I disengage the PTO? I asked the dealer and he said it was the clutch spinning free as it is an overrun clutch and it is to protect the tranny? Do all 2800 tractors do this? )

Yes they do and the L3400.
You can disengage the PTO simply by flipping the PTO lever without clutching.

My dealer happened to be there when my L2800 made the same noise. He said using the clutch to disengage was not necessary.
He was there to assure me the HST whine I was hearing was normal - which this forum has also confirmed.

I purchased an L2800 with FEL last fall. I love it. Have used it for moving some super heavy sandstone rocks, pleanty of bush hogging, tilled up a 5 acre field using a 5.5' disc harrow and am going to start digging post holes with it this weekend (9" auger with Tractor Supply PHD).

That's interesting, I always thought you had to clutch to disengage / engage the PTO. There's a modification that the dealer can do that adds more transmission fluid (I believe that's what it is) that will dampen the ratchetting noise.

Language, Borders, Culture (I miss my Savage Nation ball cap /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif wore it out.)

The clutch is only necessary when engaging the PTO.
