I'm guessing you don't like unions.
I worked union construction in Minnesota, if you did nothing but stand around you didn't have a job, nobody protected us.
Part of the standing around is certain guys or certain unions do certain work on jobs
On the contrary, I was in the Teamsters union for a while but once I figured out that all they did was collect union dues and protect sub standard workers from getting dismissed, I quit and went to work for a non union outfit for the same wages and better benefits and never looked back.
Way back when, unions were a good thing as they bargained for better wages, working conditions and benefits but that has all changed. Now, all they do is protect sub standard employees that in a non union situation would be shown the door. I'm in the blah, blah union and you cannot fire me so I'll do as little as possible and take no pride in what I do and you can KMA if you don't like it.
So yes, I'm against unions as all they really do is collect money from the rank and file, live like fat cats and don't really care about the employees they are supposed to represent.
The outfit I worked for and retired from, I delivered steel to many auto plants, both primary and T2 and T3 companies and the T2 and T3 outfits were not union and the difference between the unionized plants and the non union outfits was very evident. All I had to do was observe.
Kind of reminds me of my ex wife's brother who worked at LTV Steel in Cleveland. he prided himself on how he would go into work and then go hide somewhere for his shift and then had one of his buddy's clock him out at least an hour past his shift so he could collect overtime while hiding and he stole goods from the company constantly too. He really cried the blues when LTV sold out to an offshore company and he was let go.
Far as I'm concerned, theft of time is an immediate punishable by termination event.
Like I stated, today, all the union is good for is protecting sub standard workers from loosing their jobs and not much else.
