I currently have a B7800 Tractor. I had it on a 12' trailer and that was too small. Early next year I will be purchasing a M7040 tractor. I don't want to have to buy another trailer when I get the new tractor. Thus, I need some help on the what size trailer to get?

I am looking at a Big Tex 12GP-- Gooseneck--12000lbs GVWR at 18 or 20 feet.

1) Is 12K GVWR high enough rating??? (I don't think I will be filling my tires Impliments will be bucket and probably brush hog, discs set, box blade.)

2) Length??? I was thinking 20' because it is easier to purchase, but 18' might also work.

18'??

No way.

I'd go 24' minimum and would expect the bush hog to stick off the back.

I have an L3410 with the FEL and bush hog on the 18' 5" trailer there is 3 foot of mower sticking off the back. That means I really should have a 22'. You do the math on that M7040 with FEL and a bush hog!!!!

Oh what the heck, I'll look it up for you!

Look up the specs for the tractor (136"). Then add the reach of the FEL with bucket on the ground (77"). Then add the total length of the bush hog you may buy (7' wide bush hog 290 is 128" long). So, 136+77+128 = 341 inches or 28' 4". You may be able to load with the FEL bucket on top of the goose neck and let the last couple feet of mower hang off the back. That would get you down to a 22' trailer, but you would be nose heavy. Better to get a 26' and let the last 2' of mower hang off.

On weight, you should be looking at 14k minimum with 16k being better. That way you can load the tires and buy the better cast wheel centers.

Hope that helped

Thanks JB for running the number down. WOW!!!! 22' or 24' at 14K.
Hmmm when I put my b7800 on the trailer it going to look like a tinker toy. Wonder if I will have problem with centering weight(then again the b7800 is pretty light)
With your numbers it looks like a gooseneck is the only way to go.

The M7040 is a big boy. Didn't seem that big when I got in it at the dealer.
Does anyone else have any suggestion regarding trailers for the M7040?

One other idea would be to go with a 20' and put the brush hog under the bucket.
I don't do this for a living and will only be moving the tractor maybe 3 times a year.
hmmmm???

Does anyone know the weight of the M7040 with Bucket->
Tires Filled, Cast Iron??
Stock??

While we are at it what would the B7800 with bucket weigh? The tractor weights 1740lbs, but kubota doesn't list bucket weights.
