Hi,
First post here on tractorbynet. What a great site!
We're looking to purchase a sub-compact tractor. We have just an acre of land, but a number of gardening and landscaping projects and 200' drive and large parking area that need snow removal and between these needs, that would make a sub-compact with a FEL and Backhoe very helpful. That said it's difficult to justify the extra cost of the backhoe.
I have found a used Massey Ferguson GC1705 with low hours. Unfortunately, it does not natively fit a backhoe, without a subframe.
Questions:
- What are the things I should be checking out when I buy a used SCUT? This will be the first tractor purchase for us.
- How does Massey Ferguson compare to other manufacturers for longevity, long term parts availability, service, repeat customers/loyalty, etc?
- If well maintained, and relatively light use (say 50 hours per year), how long should I get out of a tractor like this?
Thanks!
Ross
