I am considering buying a 100KW Onan Genset with a Diesel Six Allis. I don't need it more then another hole in the head, but it seems nobody wants it. That thing starts with some authority! The alternator is some commercial voltage but maybe someone can use the well running motor. Or maybe it's too Onanized.
I can tell you the motor in my allis seem pretty strong. It has 14000 plus hours on it. I've raised h@@@ with it a few it a few times and had it blowing black smoke like a freight train. I have a few friends who don't care for allis and call them a@@ chasers. They even admit that allis made a pretty good engine. As for the generator, you could probably run your whole house and out buildings with it. The comercial voltage is probably 3 phase 440v. I dont know how much ice you get. Sometime we get an ice storm instead of a snow storm and it knocks the power out. Beingin the country i'm one lf the last to get power back on. I've been out for 2 weeks if it is a bad storm. I keep a generator around, but not that big. We have dairy farms around here, and the have big generators like that. If the power goes, the cows still need milked, them milk needs to stay cool and alot of dairies feed silage. Most silage system use at least 240v to operate. You might buy it and see if you can find a dairy to purchase it for a profit.

I've got electric baseboard heat and more than a few gensets already. My main is an Onan/Kubota 7.5. If it's cold, I shut off the baseboards and start the wood stove. No need for more power than that. Never had any shortage of power except I can't run my shop equipment.

That Allis has a 3ph 208V alternator. Aside from the voltage, not too many entities that require back-up power think about buying a forty or so year old standby set. Funny. I have more then one customer with huge brand new tier whatever standby systems that failed to work at the FIRST outage! Like, yeah, that was money well spent!

AC's were always hard-pulling son of a guns. Even today you see lots of old AC's in county fair tractor pulls.

Pop told me they would check new tractors from the factory on their dyno. They sold D17 Allis's as a 50 HP tractor. They always dynoed out at 53 to 55 at the PTO from the factory. Allis specked their tractors at the PTO and were always on the low end of what they put out. The local farmer that we sold the 8050 last year pulled a 3 shank subsoiler over 22" deep. The 8050 would spin out in red clay and never ran out of power. The tractor is rated at 150 at the PTO. That subsoiler was rated for 150 HP at the draw bar. The 8050 with over 4700 hours was still in the ball park. Yes they do pull like a freight train.

Almost all tractors dyno'd slightly over their rating. At 4700 hours they should easily still have all the power they started with. Maybe start falling off at 8-9000. My nephews took a 4450 to 22,500 before overhaul.
