We try and keep the manure pile as condensed as possible, so its just a single hill thing. There is certainly a risk of rolling over and it might be hard to tell from the video but there pretty much is just a straight shot up the pile to push it back.

What may not be clear is that when the stalls are cleaned people take a wheel barrow up the hill as much as they can, then dump it. Eventually where they can dump moves from on the pile to the gravel path. At that point I need to push it back so that they can dump on the pile again. Pushing this back is what I am doing until we can spread the manure elsewhere.

Couple of suggestions:

1) I used a paddle type snowblower to accomplish the same thing. Not as powdery or fine as your pile but just as much fun.

2) Why not avoid the ramp approach and use your bucket height ability to top off the pile instead. In other words, keep the bucket flat on the ground at all times, shove it forward until the bucket is full, then raise up and build towards the top. This way you are always on solid ground. Your barrow haulers will always have a designated drop-off point.

LOL, the snow blower sounds messy but fun!

If I just push the pile like you said, I will very quickly get to the point where simply lifting the bucket and trying to push it forward, eventually you won't and the pile will start growing. If I was smart I would have started my current pile further back and worked forward, but we have been keeping the horses in more often and so therefore made more manure. What I need to do soon is spread the manure so I can make the pile smaller :)
