Tractor
Allis Chalmers 616 (Two) and a Kioti CK30 HST with loader and backhoe
A while back I put the back end of my tractor (CK30 hst) into the water. It was in up to the rear axle for about 2 days (took a while to get it out). I went to the dealer to ask if there were breathers or any other areas water could get into the differential or ?? and he said I was not deep enough to worry. He also said I could check my oil and see if it was cloudy. I did take an oil sample and it was beautiful, fresh and nice, looked perfect.

However the other thread about a tractor with problems makes me all worried.

Are there any tips you have about what else I could check or do?

Here are pics of how deep I was. I really don't think I was in that deep but now I'm all worried.

I was not aware that we had ponds in Canada that were not frozen aaaaall year round.
Why not drop the oil completly, and put in fresh. Then let the old oil sit in a quiet corner to see if any water ever forms on the top.

Just my opinion, but looking at the pics it sure doesn't look like you were anywhere close to deep enough to cause that kind of trouble.

I agree with your dealer.

If the oil is not milky/cloudy you will be fine.

I thought I've checked for leaks in rear tires every way possible but you've got one up on me and I admit defeat.:laughing:

Water will never be on top...it is heavier than oil;)

The axle shaft was still above water, so water wouldn't enter at axle seal. the breather should be on top under the seat area. I would just check the dipstick for cloudy oil every ten hours of use, until you get tired of doing it. There will be something new that comes along to worry about, and this will become just another funny memory.

Thanks everybody. I feel better now.

The stupid thing is this was the 2nd time in 8 weeks I did this. (Two different spots mind you). Had to get a skid steer in to pull me out as there was not enough room for a truck. Problem was that as the skid steer pulled, it's front 2 tires came up off the ground so it was a bit of a chore. We did it though. I had to leave the box blade in the mud and drag it out later though as it was dead weight stuck deep in mud.

And yes, the tires were air-tight!

Where was Jethro when all this was going on?

I remember him lifting your truck by himself. Seems like either he or Elly May coulda drug it out for ya.:laughing::laughing:
