seriously.... why does ANYONE go with bagged materials for that amount of material.

i mean bulk mulch has to be 1/4 the price and topsoil a tenth of the price...

He did say he got it on sale. Still bulk might be cheaper? depends on how much of a sale he got it for.

Here is a load on my trailer and 08 Dodge truck, To me it seems to be sitting level or maybe just a tad low in the rear. The tractor is a Mahindra 5500 4x4 around 9000lbs plus, some might disagree so I will break it down, tractor weight is 6380 lbs dry weight, FEL is 1900lbs, and tires with water is 1060lbs as per the tire water chart, tool on 3-point maybe 90lbs. The 10 round bales are 4x5, what was advertised, I am not real sure of the correct weight of the bales, but i guessed around 800 to 1000lbs. Maybe someone on here can help with the weight on round bails, I would say i might have alot of tong weight, the trailer and truck handled it very well.

Thats a heck of a load you have also but its loaded more evenly. Makes all the difference in the world.

As for stumps I am estimating my weight off the logging we do. We cut 24" to 36" rounds all the time in 8' lengths and I know what they weigh. Mainly ash and walnut and they run each.

Depends where you are working. If you have to take it all though a gate bagged material is much easier.

2 weeks ago we bought 5 pallets of colored mulch. 2cu ft per bag at $1.69 per bag. 14 bags per yard. $23.66 per yard. The cheapest I could get bulk was $31 per yard. I needed 16 yards. It was very quick to put down with my forks and 3 helpers. Just pick up the pallet up and haul it to where needed. Throw of some bags and on to the next spot. Let the helpers spread it.

If you have a dump trailer, you can buy in bulk.
If you have a flat bed only, you buy in pallets.
If you have a baby tractor to run around in a yard without tearing it up, you can distribute bulk materials.
If you use a wheelbarrow to move materials, you can use sacks to reduce handling time.

I find that I use what I have to get a job done.

Anyone else see what I'm (possibly) seeing? Does the stump photo look cropped? With no description? And, are trees that big in WV? Those stumps look MIGHTY big. Having said that, I've pulled out some big stumps with my excavator in Ohio, and almost tipped the hoe over when I went full extended with a big stump and my thumb on. BUT, that's fresh outta the ground, with all the dirt on......not much dirt on them stumps. Makes a big difference.
Despite that, I'd have to say the stumps are less (or maybe close to equal) than all the bagged material. Lotta density there....

I'm tempted to show my gooseneck load, but will stay outta this one.....
