DeereDude...Hat's off, and a salute, to airborne SF from an older, and at the time, unwilling clerk typist. (I jumped out of my chair once).

Those are guys, along with all Marines, that have earned the respect.

LOL I still have boot marks from getting kicked out of the plane. Thanks

Reading 6 dogs past posts I am sure he is busy changing it out now.:eek:

I really could go either way but am going to wait until Saturday when it's 50 degrees and change it. I do have 1800 miles and seven months on the oil so it's not that bad. If it were just changed or if it were summer, I would leave it but it's not. Winter and that thicker oil is an issue and I do know about tighter tolerances that BigBoyToys mentioned. 5W20 might be OK but 5W30 in the winter, and the tell-tale WAY higher oil pressure is a reasonable indicator that I should change. That's life and some days are donuts and some days are holes.

"A" for the day for noticing the gauge. I covered all the stuff up with cardboard- tired of the reflection and the little needles and lights changing all the time.

You can get a jug of 0w20 for $25 at Wallmart or on sale at most auto parts stores. Just drain it out into a clean container, put in the correct weight, and use the saved stuff in something else like lawnmowers or another car or something. :)

Midas near me is offering $9.99 oil changes. I'd bring it down and let them do it!

If the engine has variable valve timing(VVT),the correct thinner oil is important to their function.
Not sure if your engine is.
Good move-just do it!

As a side note, I used to live on the eastern planes outside Denver. Next to my property the field was used for low lever jump practice. great show and I got to see som equipment get mangled when the drag chute failed. Big cargo box dropped off the ramp on a wheels down pass.

Usually they had a transport waiting for them but one day it was missing, so they hoped the fence and asked to use the phone. What was I to say to a bunch of heavily armed, big grumpy guys in camo. Well the ride was broke, but they were sending another ride in an hour. So I got them all some beer and asked why in the world did they jump out of a perfectly good airplane. They all laughed and asked if I had seen the inside of a C130 that they used. To them it was a leaky sieve about to fall apart. They then had some nice words to say about the air force pilot they had for training  Well to make it short a big army chopper landed in my field and the all left happy - with my beer no less. That winter around Christmas they made a night jump in the snow. Just heard the plane - no lights or sound, but found a bow on the fence the next morning and a bottle of Scotch under it. I never could serve due to bad eyes, but honer and help those that I can. My dad was a field medic in WW II.

Back on track to the OP - I would change it out and leave the filter as mentioned and save the used stuff for the lawn mower.

I have never trusted any oil change place to put in anything but the very cheapest oil, and probably short a pint or so at that, no matter what I paid for them putting in.

How do you know what they put in?

If you want to know for sure what is in your engine, put it in yourself. I have a pair of ramps that must be 40 years old, and they have served me well. Just drive up on them and pull the plug.
