QA adapter questions

I'm seriously considering the 3015HST with FEL.

Is a Mahindra Quick Attach Adapter on the FEL a worthy addition to this tractor?

If I don't buy it with the tractor, can I add it later?

I'm assuming that you have to buy one half of it for each implement you will be attaching. Is that how it works?

What kind of hit will the lifting capacity of the the bucket take due to being pushed farther forward by the adapter?

Cost?

Thanks for any and all answers or perspectives on this mechanism.

I guess I meant the type that shows in the Mahindra 15 series brochure. But I'd like to learn about both types now that you tell me there is a choice.

The universal skid steer adaptor is worth getting for sure. It will allow you to find all sorts of attachments from all different manufactures and dealers as well as used attachments.

The pictures in the brochures usually show the regular quick attach. I also am in favor of the skid steer quick attach as you expand your world to all the skid steer accessories. This too me is even more important when considering a smaller tractor that has a similar footprint to a skid steer. You could get a lot of neat toys (er, I mean tools) for that puppy. Go Skid steer quick attach and you'll never regret it. I find it is even nice for freeing up some weight off the front quick when you don't need the bucket.

I very much agree!
Added about $400 to my tractor purchase but is well worth it.
I have a QD snowplow and plan on getting pallet forks this year.
I can swap the bucket out in about 2 min.

In spring of 2005 I changed my ML112 loader on my 4110 from the old style to the QA and went from the original 5' bucket to the 6' QA they put on them now - both came from the original manufacturer, KMW, via my Mahindra dealer. Have been pleased with it overall except for the fact that I had to add a couple holes at the lower part and install 5/16" pins w/hairclips to keep my bucket on when back-dragging. Don't know if it was just my one adapter not done just right or if that's the way they all are, the square pins of the adapter don't extend down far enough to keep good engagement and the bottom of the bucket would pull out before I put these pins in. It only takes an extra minute or two to put the pins in but you really shouldn't have to do that. The adapter doesn't move your bucket out much - I notice no difference in loader use with the old bucket (I bought a skid steer plate and welded it on so I could use it as a utility bucket), the new, larger bucket only made a little difference in performance. I paid right at $500 for my QA adapter. I paid an outfit $185 for the QA plate to weld onto my old bucket - I've since seen them for around $125. In my opinion, I would buy the QA up front with the tractor purchase and of course the bucket will be QA - I paid $550 for the 6' for mine.

I backdrag with my factory QA bucket and it always stays attached. Might be an alignment issue? I also have a different loader though so it might not be a fair comparison. I have the ML265 or 264, can't remember right now. It has 2 solid pins that click when properly aligned.

Skip, I have never had any customers complain about their q/tach system. I would guess the problem lies in the the q/tach adapter welded on the bucket. The adapter is not made or offered by Mahindra/KMW. Their only option is to buy a whole skid steer compatable bucket which makes the change over expensive. It sounds like you bought an after market adapter and welded it on the bucket. I would have done the same thing, but it is a good bet that that is where your problem lies.

Miles2go,
The skid steer mount is a whole lot more versatile than the pin type q/tach system, but it is also a lot heavier which will take some of your lift capacity. You will have to weigh your pros & cons. Good luck with it.
