I want a Quad trailer to pull while working in the tighter areas of my property. I relly like the store bought ones that have the plastic tubs but the thicker sturdier tube are uber expensive for what a guy is getting.

So,,, I am thinking about building one they are stupid simple and there is nothing to them except that plastic tub,,,,,,, I would like to have that, but cant if making it myself so I am looking for some ideas on how to make the bed. I was orignaly thinking just wood deck with wood sides but that would make it heavy...

Any ideas? Examples? Just looking for a direction beyond the simple stuff.

I'm looking forward to the build. I made a double axle dump trailer a few years back for my lawn mower. I made mine with a metal frame a wood bottom and sides. It is heavy, but it doesn't seem to slow me down. I can still run it up a ramp into my truck by myself, and I'm no Heman.

Thanks. It's still going strong.

I wonder if you could rig an old wheel barrow tub for your trialer. That would be quick and easy.

I have seen replacement wheelbarrow tubs for sale in home improvement stores. Both plastic and metal ones, and they are available in various sizes. It might be cheaper to buy a complete wheelbarrow. Perhaps you will have uses for the wheels later.

I once had a notion to build a tandem trailer with two wheelbarrow tubs mounted on it, that dumped off the side, so the tubs were mounted one in front of the other. Maybe have handles that could retract, that when extended would look like the normal wheelbarrow handle under the tub. Each tub dumps independently.

What about using a 100 gallon tank with the top cut out? A 200gallon oil tank would carry about a cubic yard of somethin'....

Pat I thought about that, cutting a 250 gal fuel oil drum, one of the oblong ones. Would have to get the edges really smooth,, gotta haul the younguns :)

That is actually the closest Idea I have so far,,,, Short of a wood bed,,,

The other option is a food grade 55 gallon drum. The ones we get salad oil in at work are lined with a plastic coating of some sort. Might convince the Mrs.
